Curl Shelf

One of a series of experimental products looking into the functional applications of steam bending in furniture.

The brackets for the Curl shelf are steamed from a single length of Cedar. The straight grain of the timber runs uninterrupted around the bracket, giving it incredible strength despite the thin nature of the material. The shelf hangs from the wall off the oversized keyhole mounts cut into the top of each bracket, not only making hanging the shelf easy, but also allowing it to be quickly and easily taken down for cleaning or to create more space in a room.
